River Cities Harvest serves local organizations that feed the hungry, through the collection and distribution of perishable and nonperishable food items.

Volunteers Needed at River Cities Harvest

RCH needs volunteers to pick up food at local donors and deliver that food to agencies that feed those in need. These are once a week commitments. Or, team up with co-workers or friends and make it a monthly activity (once a week for each member). This would be a great long-term service activity for a church or civic group. There are three pick-up locations in Ashland. These include:
• Panera Bread every Monday evening.• Alexander's at the Plaza every Sunday afternoon.
• Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital cafeteria Monday or Thursday mornings. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Scott at 606-324-3663 for more information on how you can help feed those in need.

Boyd County Fair and River Cities Harvest help feel the hungry

The Boyd County Fair, 4H, FFA, UK Cooperative Extension Office and River Cities Harvest invite you to participate in the annual Livestock Auction to help feed the hungry this Saturday! Purchasers are invited to attend the buyer’s lunch Saturday at 1:30pm in the Franks Community Extension Building at the fairgrounds. Those interested are asked to please call 4H Livestock Club Leader John McGlone at 606-615-4373 or Boyd County Extension Agent Lyndall Harned at 606-615-4742 to receive a lunch pass. The livestock is on display now through Saturday and these beautiful animals will be showcased at 6pm Tuesday and Thursday. The auction will take place at 3pm Saturday in the livestock arena. These donations are a primary source of protein rich food for all 16 River Cities Harvest recipient agencies. John McGlone explained, “River Cities Harvest benefits, the children benefit and the community benefits “. Donations are tax deductable and River Cities Harvest will pay to have the meat processed and distributed.
